Dr. Andrew J. Sauer (Twitter @AndrewJSauer) is a cardiologist and Associate Professor at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He is also the Associate Director of the Cardiometabolic and Cardiovascular Research Programs at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute. He has a long track record in successful program building, including developing critical care, mechanical circulatory support, heart transplant, heart failure remote monitoring, clinical trials and outreach programs across rural regions of America. He has served as principal investigator for many landmark pivotal trials and novel early feasibility studies. He has co-authored numerous articles on intersecting topics such as machine learning, gamification, overcoming treatment inertia, technology, burnout, and wellness at the intersection of heart failure and patient care. His passions include innovations in digital technology, device therapies, and implementation science. He also serves the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) and Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) in annual scientific program development (HFSA ASM and HRX meetings 2023) and as Associate Editor of the Journal of Cardiac Failure.
