About Michael D. Lesh, SM, MD,
Michael D. Lesh, SM MD FACC, Adjunct Professor of Medicine at UCSF, is the founder and current CEO of two digital health companies utilizing generative AI: Syntegra.io (synthetic data), and Quench (physician burn-out). Until recently, he was Executive Director of Health Technology Innovation at UCSF. Dr. Lesh is an accomplished physician-inventor and entrepreneur, having founded and served as CEO of a number of successful medical device companies, including Atrionix (AF ablation), Mitralife, Appriva Medical (LAA occlusion), Evera Medical and Middle Peak Medical (percutaneous mitral valve), many of which were later acquired by leading life sciences companies. He serves on the board of Elucid, Cordance and Diatiro, and has served as a director at HeartScape, Stentys, Abate, and KidneyCor. He received education and training at MIT, UCSF and University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lesh has authored over 200 scientific papers, book chapters and books, and he is an inventor on over 200 patents, including the foundational method of atrial fibrillation ablation and left atrial appendage occlusion to prevent stroke.
