Atul Gupta, MD is the global Chief Medical Officer for all Diagnosis and Treatment businesses at Philips, a worldwide leader in health technology. He delivers medical leadership for the company’s innovations, aimed at addressing today and tomorrow’s most pressing healthcare challenges.
Aiming to make care more accessible, inclusive, connected, and sustainable, Dr. Gupta supports patient-centric innovation and new product development across radiology, cardiology, vascular and cardiac surgery, neuro and oncology. His responsibility spans technology and clinical research, strategy, business development and product roadmaps.
He also helps define Philips’ future health innovations and vision using transformative technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud, robotics, automation, and augmented reality.
Atul supports all the Philips diagnosis and treatment businesses worldwide spanning image- guided therapy and precision diagnosis. This includes interventional systems, endovascular devices, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and diagnostic X-ray.

Holding dual board certification in both diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology,
Dr. Gupta maintains active clinical practice in the Philadelphia (USA) region, where he began his medical career over 20 years ago. He also sits on the leadership team of Philips’ Chief Medical Office.
Engaging with leading media, Atul acts as a key medical spokesperson and thought leader for Philips. He presents at major events, and builds relationships with leading clinical partners, institutions, medical device and technology companies worldwide, to advance health outcomes.
Prior to joining Philips, Dr. Gupta served on the international medical advisory board of Philips for over 10 years, assisting in the development of our 3D guidance and navigation systems and interventional ultrasound solutions. In April 2016, he transitioned from a full-time clinical practice to officially joining Philips.
Dr. Gupta has been repeatedly recognized in media as a top physician in his specialty, is a reviewer for several medical journals, and has published and lectured internationally including on augmented reality, dose reduction and 3D live image guidance for interventional procedures including uterine fibroid embolization and IVC filter retrieval.
