Prof. Josef Kautzner, MD, PhD, is a graduate of Charles University in Prague. He completed most of his cardiology training at the Department of Medicine II at Charles University General Hospital, along with additional training in London and Houston. Since 1996, he has been working at the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM) in Prague, where he currently serves as the Director of the Heart Center and the Department of Cardiology. His clinical interests have recently focused primarily on studying the adverse effects of atrial fibrillation, as well as on innovative technologies for catheter ablation and imaging. He is the author of eight books, numerous book chapters, and has authored or co-authored 470 scientific papers, His H-index reached 80 in January 2026 with 46110 quotations.
