About Khaldoun Tarakji, MD, MPH
Khaldoun Tarakji, MD, MPH, is Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, Clinical Research and Medical Science for Cardiac Ablation Solutions business at Medtronic. In this multi-faceted role, he leads teams dedicated to conducting innovative, patient-centered clinical research to improve care for patients with cardiac arrhythmias. He also oversees training and education related to CAS technologies for employees and physicians and plays a key tole in knowledge sharing and partnership to advance the field of electrophysiology globally.
Khaldoun’s clinical expertise in atrial fibrillation and complex arrhythmias and cardiac ablation procedures stems from his previous leadership roles at the Cleveland Clinic as Associate Section Head of Cardiac Electrophysiology in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He was also an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western University, and Director of the Center for International Medical Education at the Cleveland Clinic.
In addition to his clinical, Khaldoun has led multiple national and international clinical trials, and has authored over 140 original articles in leading scientific journals including NEJM, JAMA, JACC, among others. Khaldoun was also the founder and director of the Heart, Vascular, Institute Center for Digital Health Technologies and Telemedicine. In this role, he pioneered the adoption of smart devices to enhance the care of cardiovascular patients.
