About Mélèze Hocini, MD, PhD
Dr. Mélèze Hocini, MD, PhD is a professor of Cardiology at Bordeaux University Hospital’s Cardiac Arrhythmias Center in Bordeaux, France. With over 30 years of experience in catheter ablation, she is internationally recognized for her expertise in atrial fibrillation and ventricular fibrillation ablation.
Dr. Hocini has played a key role in the development and clinical evaluation of several innovative therapeutic and mapping strategies targeting both atrial and ventricular arrhythmias.
In 2010, she was a founding member of Liryc, the Institute for Research in Heart Rhythm Disorders, where she has served as Deputy Director since 2013 and was appointed Interim General Director in 2025.
Her research focuses on the mechanisms and treatment of atrial arrhythmias, the mapping and ablation of ventricular fibrillation, and the evaluation of patients at risk of sudden cardiac death. Dr. Hocini currently leads the first large-scale clinical study aimed at characterizing human ventricular fibrillation dynamics across diverse patient populations, with the goal of advancing risk stratification and prevention strategies for sudden cardiac death
