About Oguz Akbilgic
Dr. Oguz Akbilgic is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Wake Forest School of Medicine and Co-Director of the Epidemiological Cardiology Research Center (EPICARE). With dual doctoral degrees in Machine Learning/Statistics and Quantitative Methods/Business Administration, he brings a multidisciplinary approach to advancing health informatics and AI-driven clinical tools. His research spans cardiovascular disease prediction, cardio-oncology, maternal health, neurodegeneration, and remote monitoring technologies, supported by multiple NIH R01 and R21 grants. An accomplished innovator and entrepreneur, Dr. Akbilgic co-founded a digital health startup recognized by NIH-RADx and awarded FDA Breakthrough Device Designation. His contributions include pioneering AI models for ECG analysis, mentoring a diverse team of researchers, and active roles in national and international scientific initiatives.
