M. SABARIMALAI MANIKANDAN (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.E. degree in Electronic and Communication Engineering (Amrita Institute of Technology & Science, currently Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, Coimbatore), the M.E. degree in Microwave and Optical Engineering (Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi), and the Ph.D. degree in Cardiovascular Signal Analysis at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad, Kerala. He was an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, India. He was a Chief Engineer with the Advanced Technology Group, Samsung India Electronics Pvt., Ltd., Noida, India. His research interests include Biomedical Signal Analysis, Non-invasive Health Monitoring Devices, Climate and Environmental Aware Disease Prediction, System-On-Chip, and Artificial Intelligence Software as a Medical Device (AI-SaMD) with the main objectives of reducing false alarms (trustworthiness of the medical devices), improving energy efficiency and diagnostic accuracy of health monitoring devices. He has published more than 150 research papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings. He has patents in signal processing systems and health monitoring devices (one United States Patent granted and three Indian Patent granted) and five filed patents (India). He has delivered more than 100 technical talks in both national and international workshops and conferences. Dr. M. S. Manikandan recognized in World’s Top 2% Scientists and was a recipient of the 2012 Outstanding Performance Award and also Employee of the Month during his tenure at Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd. He is the recipient of DAAD Scholarship, Bilateral Exchange of Academics 2024 for the collaborative research activities in portable sleep apnoea recognition system. He received the Best Technology Award 2025 at IIT Indore, Outstanding Service Award at Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, Hall of Fame-Heathcare Visinaries Award, UAE Healthcare Summit and Awards 2024, Best Research Paper Award for atrial fibrillation detector at IIT Indore, Best Atrial Fibrillation Detection Paper Award at the 9th IEEE International Conference On Smart Instrumentation, Measurement and Application, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He received the 2019 CVET Most Cited Article Award at the Biomedical Engineering Society (BME) conference, Philadelphia, USA, and the 2019 IET Healthcare Technology Letters Premium Award 2019. He was the Chair of the Cardio–Respiratory (CR) Subgroup of IEEE Standards P1752.2 and Vice Chair of the Working Group of IEEE Standards P2520.3.1 (Standard for Machine Olfaction Devices and Systems) and a Member of the Working Group of IEEE P1924.1 (Energy Efficient Communication Hardware (COM/GreenICT-SC/EECH)) with the main contribution of the recommendation of Sensor and Data Acquisition Techniques. He served as one of the Directors of IITBBS Research and Entrepreneur Park, Joint Professor in Charge of IIT Bhubaneswar, Professor in Charge of Horticulture (Green Campus), Vice-Chairman, Engineering Work Division (EWD) of IIT Palakkad. He serves as Associate Editor of IEEE Access, Healthcare Technology Letters, PLOS Digital Health and Frontiers in Signal Processing (Biomedical Signal Processing). He serves as the reviewer for reputed journals including the IEEE, ACM, IET, Springer, Elsevier, PLOS ONE, and Taylor and Francis.
