About Christian Sohns, MD

Christian Sohns, MD is Professor of Cardiology and Deputy Director of the Clinic for Electrophysiology and Rhythmology at the Heart and Diabetes Center NRW, Ruhr University Bochum, in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany. An internationally recognized cardiac electrophysiologist, he specializes in the treatment of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, with expertise in catheter ablation, pulsed field ablation (PFA), ventricular tachycardia, heart failure, and advanced rhythm management.

Dr. Sohns completed his cardiology training at the Georg-August University of Göttingen before serving as a senior electrophysiologist at Asklepios Klinik St. Georg in Hamburg. He subsequently joined the Heart and Diabetes Center NRW, where he now serves as Deputy Director and leads clinical, research, and educational initiatives in cardiac electrophysiology.

A prolific clinician-scientist, Dr. Sohns has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and is an investigator on numerous international studies evaluating catheter ablation, pulsed field ablation, ventricular arrhythmias, and heart failure therapies. He is a frequent invited speaker at major cardiovascular congresses worldwide and is committed to advancing evidence-based electrophysiology through clinical innovation, translational research, and physician education.
