Darryl R. Davis, MD

Dr. Darryl Davis is a cardiac electrophysiologist and clinician-scientist at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and the University of Ottawa. He serves as Director of Research for the Division of Cardiology and leads a translational research program focused on developing new biological therapies for atrial fibrillation.

His laboratory studies the mechanisms linking cardiac inflammation, atrial remodeling, and arrhythmogenesis, with particular emphasis on extracellular vesicle–based therapies and modulation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. This work has progressed from rodent models through large-animal studies and human cardiac cells toward clinical translation.

Dr. Davis is also the founder and CEO of Rhythm Biotherapeutics, a biotechnology company developing extracellular vesicle–based therapeutics for atrial fibrillation. His work bridges cardiac electrophysiology, regenerative medicine, drug development, and clinical translation.
