About Gaurav Upadhyay, MD, FHRS
Gaurav Upadhyay, MD, FHRS is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Heart Station at the University of Chicago Medicine. An internationally recognized cardiac electrophysiologist, he specializes in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, syncope, and heart failure, with expertise in advanced electrical therapies including cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), conduction system pacing, catheter ablation, and implantable cardiac rhythm devices.
Dr. Upadhyay is a leading clinical investigator whose research focuses on optimizing device-based therapies for heart failure, advancing conduction system pacing, autonomic modulation, and leveraging data-driven approaches to improve outcomes for patients with complex arrhythmias. A frequent national and international invited speaker, he has authored more than 300 scientific manuscripts, editorials, book chapters, and abstracts, contributing significantly to the advancement of cardiovascular electrophysiology.
Committed to both innovation and education, Dr. Upadhyay actively mentors the next generation of electrophysiologists while collaborating on pioneering technologies that improve patient care. He earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed his residency, cardiology fellowship, and clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
