About Gerhard Hindricks, MD

Gerhard Hindricks is the Medical Director of the Heart Center Leipzig at the University of Leipzig. The Heart Center has 500 beds in cardiovascular medicine and is with more than 20.000 cardiovascular intervention in cardiology, cardiac surgery and pediatric cardiology one of largest Heart Centers in Europe. He is also the Director of the Department of Electrophysiology&Arrhythmia at the Heart Center.

Since 2017 Gerhard leads the Leipzig Heart Institute as the general manager. Leipzig Heart Institute is a research and education facility at the Heart Center Leipzig. The institute promotes research around innovative technologies, clinical trials and high quality postgraduate education.

Gerhard Hindricks has served the European Society of Cardiology and the European Heart Rhythm Association in various roles and functions (Chairman of the EHRA International Committee, Chairman of the EHRA Program Committee, President of EHRA from 2014-2016). He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the EP Europace Journal which is the world leading journal in the field of arrhythmia and electrophysiology.

He has published more than 700 scientific manuscripts. In 2018 Gerhard Hindricks was among the highest cited scientists in the field cardiovascular medicine in Germany. In addition, he has served as principal Investigator in many major large scale international multicentre trials.
