About Kyungmoo Ryu, PhD, FHRS

Kyungmoo Paul Ryu, PhD, FHRS, is Senior Director of Research and Development for Cardiac Rhythm Management at Abbott. Over his 20+ year career at Abbott, he has led the development of innovative technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, including implantable devices, external monitoring systems, digital health solutions, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics. His contributions include the Aveir™ leadless pacing platform, conduction system pacing technologies, and quadripolar left ventricular pacing systems for cardiac resynchronization therapy.

Dr. Ryu earned his BS from Rutgers University and his MS and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, where he specialized in cardiac electrophysiology under Professor Albert Waldo. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, presented over 200 scientific abstracts, and is an inventor on more than 100 U.S. patents. He was inducted into Abbott’s Volwiler Society as a Research Fellow in 2020 and was named a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS) in 2024 for his contributions to electrophysiology research and innovation.
