About Michael Curley, PhD, FHRS
Dr. Michael Curley is the Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors of Thermedical, where he leads the development of innovative thermal ablation technologies for the treatment of ventricular tachycardia and other challenging cardiac and oncologic conditions. A co-inventor of Thermedical’s Saline Enhanced Radiofrequency (SERF) Ablation Therapy, Dr. Curley has dedicated his career to advancing medical technologies that address unmet clinical needs in electrophysiology.
Prior to founding Thermedical, Dr. Curley spent more than a decade at Acuson Corporation (now Siemens Healthineers), where he rose from Mechanical Engineer to Vice President and General Manager of the Interventional Devices Business Unit. During his tenure, he invented and led the worldwide development and commercialization of the AcuNav™ intracardiac echocardiography catheter, a technology that has become a standard imaging tool for guiding complex electrophysiology and structural heart procedures. He earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where his graduate research focused on thermal therapy for cancer and biological heat transfer. In recognition of his contributions to the field, Dr. Curley was named a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS) in 2014.
