About Marco Götte, MD, PhD
Marco Götte, MD, PhD is Professor of Cardiac Sciences at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, Scientific Director of the Stephenson Cardiac Imaging Centre, and Program Director of the Interventional Cardiac MRI Research Program and Cardiac MRI Fellowship. An internationally recognized cardiologist and cardiovascular imaging scientist, Dr. Götte specializes in advancing cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from a diagnostic tool into a real-time interventional platform for guiding complex cardiac procedures.
Before joining the University of Calgary in 2025, Dr. Götte served as Director of the Cardiac Research Unit at Amsterdam UMC, where he founded and led the Cardiac MRI Research Team (CAMRIT). His research focuses on MRI-guided catheter ablation, advanced tissue characterization, cardiac electrophysiology, hemodynamics, pressure-volume analysis, artificial intelligence–assisted image analysis, and computational modeling for personalized cardiovascular care. A prolific investigator and educator, he has authored numerous high-impact publications, serves as principal investigator on multiple clinical trials, and is dedicated to training the next generation of cardiologists and imaging specialists through innovative research and international collaboration.
