About Pugazhendhi Vijayaraman, MD, FHRS
Pugazhendhi Vijayaraman, MD, FHRS, is System Chief of Clinical Electrophysiology at Geisinger’s Heart & Vascular Institute and Director of Cardiology at Geisinger Wilkes-Barre. He also serves as Program Director of Geisinger’s Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship.
Dr. Vijayaraman is an internationally recognized leader in cardiac electrophysiology and conduction system pacing, with pioneering work in His bundle pacing and left bundle branch pacing. His clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, catheter ablation, cardiac device implantation, conduction system pacing, and left atrial appendage occlusion.
A prolific investigator and educator, Dr. Vijayaraman has authored more than 200 scholarly publications related to conduction system pacing and has played an important role in advancing its use in patients requiring cardiac pacing and resynchronization therapy. He received Geisinger’s **Henry Hood Award for Clinical and Research Excellence** in recognition of his contributions to His bundle and left bundle branch pacing.
Dr. Vijayaraman earned his medical degree from Madurai Medical College and completed his U.S. internal medicine residency at Jacobi Medical Center, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology through Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
