About Hiroshi Nakagawa, MD, PhD

Hiroshi Nakagawa, MD, PhD, is a cardiac electrophysiologist at Cleveland Clinic specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias. Internationally recognized as a pioneer in cardiac electrophysiology, Dr. Nakagawa has devoted his career to advancing catheter mapping and ablation technologies, with innovations that have helped shape many of the techniques and devices used in electrophysiology laboratories worldwide. He earned his medical degree and PhD from Hiroshima University School of Medicine in Japan and completed advanced training in cardiology and electrophysiology in Japan and at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Nakagawa’s research has focused on radiofrequency and pulsed-field ablation, lesion formation, intracardiac mapping, and the development of novel electrophysiology technologies. He holds multiple patents related to catheter ablation systems and has received research support from the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, and numerous industry partners. A prolific investigator, educator, and lecturer, Dr. Nakagawa has authored hundreds of scientific publications and continues to advance the field through innovative research and the education of electrophysiologists around the world.
