About Igor R. Efimov, PhD, FHRS

Igor R. Efimov, PhD, FHRS, is Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at Northwestern University, where he also serves as Director of Graduate Studies for Biomedical Engineering and leads the Cardiovascular Engineering Laboratory. An internationally recognized leader in cardiovascular engineering, his research focuses on the mechanisms of cardiovascular disease and the development of innovative therapies for heart rhythm disorders and heart failure. His laboratory combines bioengineering, bioelectronics, bioinformatics, and machine learning to develop next-generation implantable, interventional, and wearable technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease.

Dr. Efimov has authored hundreds of peer-reviewed publications and is the inventor of numerous cardiovascular technologies that have advanced the fields of cardiac electrophysiology and biomedical engineering. He is Editor-in-Chief of *Cardiovascular Engineering and Technology* and has founded multiple medical technology companies focused on novel therapies for cardiac arrhythmias and wearable health monitoring. Through his pioneering research, innovation, and mentorship, Dr. Efimov continues to shape the future of cardiovascular medicine and engineering on a global scale.
